Enseigne shows official restaurant inspection records published by city and county health departments. Those records are public. We keep a snapshot of the New York City file so the map can load quickly. We do not invent grades.

If you create an account, we store your email, display name, a salted password hash, a session cookie, whether you accepted the terms, saved kitchens, and any inspection notes you post. Passwords are hashed. We do not sell personal information, run ads, or send kitchen lists to an advertising network.

Saves without an account stay on this device in local storage. A guest terms acceptance also stays on this device.

The map tiles are requested by your browser from the tile provider. Ordinary connection metadata (IP address, timing) can be processed to deliver the page and to limit abuse of accounts and community notes.

Enseigne is for adults 18 or older. It is not medical, legal, or food-safety advice. A posted letter can change after the snapshot was pulled.
